12 Benjamin Eve

Benjamin Eve was born in 1789 in Culpeper Co., Virginia. He died on the 24th Oct 1860 in Knox Co, Kentucky.

He married Francis H. Barton on 28th June 1827 in Knox County, Kentucky. She was born in 1808. They had the following children.

• Elizabeth E Eve - born about 1829. In 1850 aged 21 she was living at home. Ky (see reference re Mark Messer descdant of)
• George Eve - born 1831. In 1850 aged 19 he was living at home and was a storeclerk.
• John Gill Eve (25) - born 1833. In 1850 aged 17 he was a student living at home.

History of Knox Co. Kentucky

During the 1812 war he was a private in the 1st Regiment (Scotts) Kentucky Volunteers. It is believed he was captured during the war.

13 John Gill Eve

John Gill Eve was born on the 28th April 1793 in Culpeper Co., Virginia. He died in Knox County on 12th November 1841.

He married America L. Ballinger on 23 April 1818 at Barbourville, Knox Co., Kentucky. Based on census data there may hav been the following children.

Milton Eve was born about 1790. He died after 1870.

He married Louisiana in about 1825. She was born in about 1804. They had the following children.

On 4 April 1848 Milton Eve conveyed his land on Richland Creek near the Barbourville Road and his slaves to Benjamin Eve, in trust for Milton's wife, Louisiana and his children. Benjamin accepted the trust the next day, although the deed was not recorded until 26 June 1855.

In August of 1860, not long before his death, Benjamin filed suit in Knox Circuit Court against Milton, Louisiana and the children for release from the trusteeship. He recited "that at the time the deed ... was executed Deft Milton was drinking very hard and it was feared he might squander his property" but that Milton was now "sober and steady." Moreover, Benjamin recited, he himself, was "far advanced in years and has considerable business of his own to wind up and does not want to be worried with other business than his own."

16 William J. Eve

William J. Eve was born near Lynchburg, Va. on the 20th November 1806. He died in Knox County, Ky., near Barbourville on the 12th March 1855.

He married Henrietta Dorsey on the 9th May 1828 in Scott Co., Ky..

No children identified.

17 Martha Ann Eve

Martha Ann Eve was born on the 24th July 1809 in Lynchburg, Va. She died in Nov 1839 in Knox Co, Kentucky.

She married Henry Tuggle on the 1827. He died in 1834. They had the following children

• William Tuggle
• Richardson C. "Dick" Tuggle

After Henry Tuggles death in Apr 1834, Martha Ann Eve had an affair with John B. Pogue. He was born 11 Apr 1810 KY, son of John Pogue and Hannah Gillis. John Pogue died on the 18th September 1840 in Knox Co., KY. They had one illegitimate child. :

After the deaths of Henry Tuggle, Martha Ann Eve, and James B. Pogue the children were cared for by various relatives.

• Martha Thomas Tuggle was raised by members of the Eve family and accompanied them to Missouri in the 1840's. She was born on the 21st June 1839 in Barbourville, Knox Co., Ky. She died on the 8th Nov 1911 in Sacto., Sacto. Co., California..See references to Thomas Jones Eve.
