18 Elizabeth Eve

Elizabeth Eve was born in Lynchburg on the 1sr September 1811. She died in Reno, Navada date unknown.

She married Albert Gallatin Mershon in Knox County, Ky.on 8th March 1832.

19 Dorcas Eve

Dorcas Eve was born at Lynchburg, Va on the 9th Jan 1813. She died after 1880 in Loyalton, Sierra Co., California.

She married Henry Thomas Mason on the 3rd Aug 1847 in Woodruff, Marion County, Mo.

They along with Thomas Jones Eve moved to California.

20 Thomas Jones Eve

Thomas Jones Eve was born on the 15th Aug near Lynchburg, Va., He died after 1880, in Loyalton, Sierra Co., Ca.

He never married.

21 Achilles Eve

Achillus (Achilles) Eve was born on the 30th August 1817 in Campbell Co, Virginia. He died on the 13th March 1855 in Knox Co, Missouri He is buried in the Anderson Cemetary. He married Elizabeth Trosper on the 14th Feb 1843 in Knox Co, Kentucky. She was born in about 1825.

• Sarah "Ellen" Eve - born on the 29th Dec 1853 in Knox Co, Mo. She died on the 30th May 1942 in Harlen. She married Josiah S. "Joe" Dozier on the 9th Oct 1870 in Knox Co., Kentucky. They had 13 children Laura Elizabeth Dozier, James Madison Dozier, Martha Jane Dozier, Sarah Melissa Dozier, Nancy Catherine Dozier, Eliza Ann Dozier, Jay Tom "John Thomas" Dozier, Mary Ellen Dozier, Zora Ellen Dozier, Rhoda Mae Dozier, Walter Kellis Dozier, William David Dozier, Chester Arthur Dozier. This tree is being researched by Mary Ellen Holmes.

Census Records

• 1850 - Achillis Eve - Knox County KY 382. Federal Census Index KYS5a548165. The census shows living with his family. He was a farmer. The listing is next to one for William Trosper.
• 1880 - Elisabeth Eve is listed as living in Barboursville, Knox County. She may have been the widow of Achillis Eve. In 1880 she was listed as being 56 years old and a widow.

It is likely that he moved to Missouri just before his death in 1855.

In 1854 he purchased land with James Trasper (sic). A James Trosper was living as a neighbour in the 1850 census. James was then aged 23.

22 Mildred Eve

Mildred Eve was born on the 16th November 1821 in Lynchburg, She died on the 7th March 1861 also in Lynchburg, Virginia.

She married Lethy Parrott on the 11th November 1841. They had the following children.

• Green - born about 1845. NB there is a reference to a Green Eve in the 1870 Wayne County Cenusus for NC. Reference NC52390427
• Ellen Francis - born about 1850

23 Lucy Jane Eve

Lucy Jane Eve was born on the 22nd September in Scott Co., Ky.

She married twice. First to Woodwon Price in Marion County, Mo. on the 8th April 1846. She then married William S. Parker in Pine Grove, Ca. on 25th September 1860.

She had the following childred.

• Bessie Parker - born 2nd Jul 1863 in Pine Grove, California.

After the deaths of Henry Tuggle, Martha Ann Eve, and James B. Pogue the children were cared for by various relatives.

• Elizabeth Pope Tuggle was raised by her uncle Benjamin Tuggle
• William Tuggle by his uncle Judge William Tuggle
• Richardson "Dick" Tuggle by his uncle Richardson Tuggle
• Martha Thomas Tuggle was raised by members of the Eve family and accompanied them to Missouri in the 1840's. She was born on the 21st June 1839 in Barbourville, Knox Co., Ky. She died on the 8th Nov 1911 in Sacto., Sacto. Co., California..See references to Thomas Jones Eve.

24 Mary Eve

Mary Eve was born on th 12th July 1627 in Scott Co Ky. She died on the 9th March 1858 in Edina, Knox Co, Missouri

She married Dr. Joseph G. Sadler on 2nd April 1846 in Edina, Marion Co., Mo.

25 Col. John Gill Eve

Col. John Gill Eve was born in 1833 in Knox Co. He was the son of Benjamin Eve (12).

There is a record of his marriage in 1865. Lexington Observer and Reporter Mmay 10th 1865 - "Col John G Eve of Barbourville, to Miss M E Davidson of Lexington, married May 9th 1865". She died prior to 1880.

1880 Census

The 49th Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infantry was organized at Camp Nelson, Kentucky, under Colonel John G. Eve, This Regiment was originally recruited for the cavalry service but, prior to muster-in, on December 14, 1863, the various detachments were consolidated into ten companies and the officers were duly commissioned from the date. All the companies and detachments were mustered into the United States service on the 19th day of September 1863, except two, one of which was mentioned in October 7, 1863, and the other November 3, 1863.

The Regiment marched as follows: It left Camp Nelson for Somerset, Kentucky, October 20, 1863; shortly afterwards two companies went to Camp Burnside, and one was put on duty at Waynesburg, Kentucky; The Regiment was moved from Somerset to Camp Burnside on the 3rd and 4th days of January 1864, and on the 1st day of August 1864, it left Camp Burnside for Lexington, Kentucky, where it arrived on the 6th and on the 17th it was sent to Louisville, with the view of being marched against Adam Johnson's command; but it was recalled and returned to Lexington on August 21, 1864; It remained on duty, chiefly in the central portion of the State, until December 26, 1864, when it was mustered out at Lexington, Kentucky.

The veterans from this Regiment re-enlisted by Captain J.M. Cook, were transferred to 7th Kentucky Cavalry and constituted Co. L of this Regiment. Those re-enlisted by Captain Francis Catron were transferred to 1st Kentucky Cavalry.
