Family of William Eve

William Eve was born 1860 in North Ockendon in England. He came to the USA in about 1896.

His father was Joseph Eve who was born about 1823 in North Ockendon. He married Elizabeth Day, who was born in about 1830, in 1850. Joseph Eve had the following children;

  • William Eve - born 1860
  • Ada Eve - born 1863
  • Fred Eve - born 1867
  • Arthur Eve - born 1870
  • Elizabeth Eve - born 20th September 1872. She died in 1950 in Salt Lake City.
  • Alice Eve - born 1876

William Eve married Mary Louisa (Lucy) Tucker on the 22nd September 1896 in Salt Lake City. Lucy was born on the 25th May 1872 in Dartmouth, Devon. They came to Salt Lake City, Utah in about 1895/6. He died in Salt Lake City on the 5th September 1937. They had the following children;
  • Arthur Sterling Eve (1) - born 27th Sept 1899 in Utah. He died in San Francisco on the 9th Sept 1954 aged 54 years.
  • Joseph Eve (2) - born May 1897. He died in April 1967 in Salt Lake City. He married Chloe Eve - Born 18th Nov 1902. She died in November 1983 in Salt Lake City.
  • Aida Eve - born about 1902. She married James W Russell who was born in about 1893.

The 1920 census records the following information for the family;
  • William Eve - age 58, born England. He was a sign writer. He became a naturalised US citizen in 1916.
  • Lucy Eve - age 47, born England.
  • Joseph Eve - age 22, born Utah. Occupation given as sign writer.
  • Aida Russell - age 18 (daughter). Born Utah. Occupation given as seamstress.
  • James W Russell - age 27 (son in law). Born Utah. Occupation given as an auto repair mechanic
Elizabeth Eve (born 1872) who was William Eve's sister also came to Salt Lake City (date unknown). She never married and was buried in the City Cemetery in Salt Lake City on the 14th March 1950.

Arthur Sterling Eve 1

Arthur Sterling Eve was born on the 27th Sept 1899 in Utah. He married Edna Hasalone who was born in 1900. He died in San Francisco on the 9th Sept 1954 aged 54 years. They had the following children.

  • Glenn William Eve - born in Salt Lake City in 1921. He died in Los Angeles in August 1994. He married and had children - living
  • Joseph Robert Eve - born in Salt lake City in 1925. He died in Los Angeles on the 24th August 1994. No children.
  • Harold (Harry) Eve - born 1929. He died on the 30th April 1994 in Laughlin, NV. He married and had children - living.

Joseph Eve - He was born in May 1897. He died in Salt Lake City in April 1967 in Salt Lake City. He married Chloe who was born on the 8th November 1902. She died in November 1983 in Salt Lake City. They married in about 1930. They had at least two children;
  • Dorothy Eve - born in Utah in about 1922
  • Fred S Eve - born in Utah on the 1st Feb 1926. He died Jan 1985 in Lynnwood, Snohomish, WA.
In the 1930 census the following listing appears for the family;
  • Joseph Eve - listed as living in Salt Lake City. He was 32 years of age born in Utah. His father was born in England. In 1930 he was working as a fireman. He married when he was 22 years old. They lived in their own property which had a value of $2,300. The family had a radio!
  • Chloe Eve - Listed as being 26 years old. She married when she was 16. She was born in Utah as were her parents.
  • Dorothy Eve - age 8 born Utah
  • Fred S Eve - age 4 and two months born Utah

1930 Census

 Elizabeth A Eve - Listed as living in Ogden, Weber County. She is listed as 68 years old born in England. She came to the US in 1867? She is described as a widow. She was living at the home of George and Beatrice L Bell. Relationship to head of family is given as mother in law. Beatrice L Bell (Eve) is listed as 36 years old born in Utah. She married in about 1923.
